Hi Roger,
I think this is by design, and not  a bug per se. You can read a long
discussion about this issue here

It is currently scheduled for 2.0.5.

The non-assignment of the UUID could be a bug. I will take a look,
otherwise, if you know it is a bug, just file a bug report.
