Be careful what you wish for :-) I am not sure if the average user
wants that level of detail. We are currently better than where we
were in that before the process would just fail with no indication to
the UI at all. Now at least the UI indicates that process failed,
And I agree it could be more verbose about this .. eg say it failed
because of incompatible file type, corrupt file, inconsistent metadata
etc. Though I wouldn't go down to reporting the gory detail. That
can be got from logs.

Not looking at this right now, but as I recall one of the common
causes of error is due to incompatible metadata ids (catcombo or
period or orgunit doesn't exist etc). One reason I have not addressed
this a long time ago is that I think this problem is typically
detected within one of the amplecode modules, so probably would have
to pull that back in to launchpad to get a handle on more detailed
logging.

I am a bit reluctant to do that as I think we will find a better
approach than the current batchhandler+objectmapper approach so I am
not sure its worth putting too much effort there right now.

Is this a bug or a feature request, ie better represented by a
blueprint?
