Hi have you tried the filter box on top of the list in the dataelement
popup?

  Currently the editor/designer for CDE form does not support for filtering/searching date-elements.
  In a system with dataelements (both category-combo default or not-default), the data-element list is quite long.
  So it's necessary to have this function.
