I agree with you there should be a message when delete calculated data
element. You get such message when you delete dataset. It wont delete
because there is a fk (foreign key) with "RESTRICT" on delete rule on the
calculateddataelementid (calculateddataelement table).

Solution
If you must delete the data element, edit the fk and set to cascade then
delete.

still cannot be deleted. Attempt to delete does not give any error
message, it just does not delete. There should be some error message
stating why the data element could not be deleted
