Mobile application for Health worker workplan-GSOC 2013
Hi,
I am interested in applying under GSOC 2013 for your "Mobile application for
Health worker workplan" project.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Aarthi Ramamurthy. I applied for GSOC
2012 for the FixMyTransport ( www.fixmytransport.com <http://> ) mobile
application of MySociety ( www.mysociety.org <http://> ). Though they liked
my application, that project was not selected by Google for funding. I was
persistent. I offered to MySociety that I will build the application as a
volunteer. With their approval, I built the application for Android phones
using jQuery Mobile, PhoneGap (Apache Cordova) and Google Maps. You can see
the code here:
https://github.com/rthuvibu/FMTproject <http://>
You mentioned that this project will use the following technologies:
Android, JSON/XML
I would like to propose the following:
1.Build a browser application rather than a native Android application.
Even though I will test this only on Android for this project, with some
additional testing and tweaking, it can be made to run on iPhone/iPad and
other mobile platforms, in future.
2.Use jQuery for developing the user interface. Again for the same
reasons as above.
3.Use SQLite for storing in a local database. Again for the same reasons
as above.
4.Write web services on the web database for getting and setting the
data.
5.Use JSON for two-way syncing with the web database, when connected.
Please let me know your thoughts on this approach, so that I can go ahead
and prepare a full proposal for my GSOC application.
I will appreciate any and all feedback and guidance that you can provide me
in this project.
