I am in Sierra Leone by the way. Yes I know this is not good and I will be loosing a lot which is very detrimental to one of my country’s regional database. Help from this website doesn’t come handy when really need and my job is at stake.

I will suggest that this forum have a messenger which might be instant because some of don’t have the opportunity to learn dhis2 at first hand. All I know about dhis2 is through reading, this forum and through the hard way but this is one of the most complex and I had mess everything up.

I will try to create a test case of that database and see what information I have in it but please give my recommendation a thought.

It sounds like you are now panicking a bit which is when you are most likely to make mistakes.  The biggest concern I would have now is that you are in danger of losing data.




You say that you have a backup of the database of 161MB but you don't know if it is any good.  In which case DO NOT purge or remove anything else at all until you have tested that backup.  To do that you will need to run postgresql on another machine and restore the database on to there.




I don't know whether 161MB is a reasonable size or not.  Where in the world are you?  Is this a country database?  How long has it been running.  Anyway, lets verify that your backup is good (and safely off the machine) before plotting your next step.

If you want to completely remove postgres did you try 

apt-get --purge remove postgresql


This should remove it and everything related to it.

Hi Gerald,
In general, a downgrade is tricky. You would need to really restore to 2.12 from a backup copy. In this case, I do not think it would really be necessary, since 2.13 should work. Are you certain this is not a browser caching issue? Did you try and confirm that no data is appearing in incognito mode of your browser or by completely clearing the browser cache? Are the analytics tables present in the database?

Hi all,

I remotely access the sever and I found that the analytics table update was completed successfully. But there is still no data and I can’t access the “data entry”.

Please can I take it back to version 2.12 and see if work on that version rather than 2.13????

If that process didn’t work; can I backup the database and uninstall and install postregsql again??

Finally, sorry about it but if I extract the database from the command line on Ubuntu where can I find the database???

As Olav says, you might need to run the analytics table update. You can do this in:

<server>/dhis-web-reporting/displayDataMartForm.action




This will move all the required datavalues over to the analytics table (which is used for reporting). This usually happens late at night automatically, but if you server is down, it will not be run.
