Terminology in the interface - Charts
Hi
We have started improving the user documentation in Tanzania and come
across some oddities in the user interface. One of them is the
distinction between what we in computer science call a class and an object.
In the Chart menu, three buttons appear on the top:
Add period chart
Add organisation unit chart
Add indicator chart
When writing an explanation of the three buttons in a user doc, you
cannot say that pushing them will create a chart; what you create is a
chart definition (class).
The headline on the page opening when pushing one of the buttons is
Create indicator by period chart
Not really, I am creating a chart definition.
And again, saying that when pushing the Save button on the page you save
the chart is wrong; you save the chart definition.
Back at the Chart page, in the list, the green button has the tool-tip
View chart
This is a precise description, because finally, we see a chart (object),
being an instance of the chart definition created.
So I suggest the text on the three buttons:
Add period chart definition
Add organisation unit chart definition
or maybe
New definition of chart by period
Add definition of chart by org unit
and the headline on the following page
Create chart definiton - indicator by period
Another small issue at the chart definition page. When selecting the
period type, I would prefer that the chart type comes up with Line chart
as default, since the period chart will show a time trend. I have seen
too many messy bar charts which could be legible when converted into
line charts.
