Re: How to set up Mydatamart and dhis-live 2.5
Hi Adolphe,
If you have an online DHIS 2 server running, there is no need to install
DHIS2 live on regional data mangers' laptops for Excel pivots to work. The
mydatamart tool can connect to the online server and download the data they
want into a local datamart (sql lite database), and then Excel will pull
data from the local datamart.
For this to work the regional data managers will need an internet
connection when downloading data (using mydatamart), and there must be an
online server running somewhere that mydatamart can connect to. After the
download the user can do offline data analysis in Excel.
You can also use mydatamart together with an offline DHIS live install, but
this is not recommended if there is already an online server running and
the local user has access to internet.
With DHIS Live + mydatamart in a completely offline scenario you will then
have to maintain the DHIS live database (and datamart) first and make sure
that it is updated and has all the data you need (e.g. import from district
export files). Then you can use mydatamart to simplify the transfer of data
into Excel.
The mydatamart tool was first of all built to support users of an online
DHIS deployment, to allow them to keep a local updated copy of the data
that e.g. can be used to populate Excel pivot tables (and then enable
offline data analysis).
