Thank you very much Oliver, that does it. Keyboard shortcuts are not functioning, however, but that is a different issue.

What do you think caused the corruption of the database? Is it a bug I should report?

You might have a corrupted zeitgeist database.

Try the following:
killall zeitgeist-daemon zeitgeist-datahub zeitgeist-fts diodon
rm -rf ~/.local/share/zeitgeist

If you prefer you can also move the zeitgeist folder to a tmp location.

After this start diodon again and see whether this works.
