This is confirmed and fixed in the launchpad branch:

Creating a task without specifying a task list is supposed to put the
new task into list "inbox".

A pre-compiled binary DLL file containing this fix is attached, and also
can be downloaded from: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/110544/do-
plugins/RTM.dll. You need to overwrite the file "~/.local/share/gnome-
do/plugins-0.8.0/addins/Do.RememberTheMilk.1.0/" with the downloaded
file.
