Still, I wonder if a work around could be patched in, such that:

if {email address has three slashes in it}:
    delete the three slashes;
else:
    proceed as normal;

I only ask because this bug means that three plug-ins (that I know of)
don't work: evolution, thunderbird, and gmail.
