Yes, Manfred is right.

For eg: the Checksum for ubuntu-14.04-desktop-amd64.iso is
119cb63b48c9a18f31f417f09655efbd whereas online it is mentioned as
dccff28314d9ae4ed262cfc6f35e5153

This is leading to quite a confusion.

  The instructions in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
  refer to that web page as source for checking the validity of a
  download, but the values there end with 14.04.0
