I will certainly try this with any issues I find in future; I have never
tried this before.
For this problem, when I check the page, it looks like someone had fixed
it already..

Syntax error in UbuntuDesktop LVM command
Status in “ubuntu-docs” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
refer page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuDesktopLVM
Section: Load LVM modules on startup
contains a list of commands, all of which fail at the bash prompt:-
echo "dm-mod" >> /etc/modules
...
Above returns error:
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `;&'
root@ubuntu:/#
...unable to properly setup LVM using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit install disk
hope someone can help, I will attempt to proceed without the Mario
Schmidt recommended configurations
