[Bug 1628706] Re: Revise PPA description?
I think you have a point, but if we change the description as you
suggest, how about extending the first para within the page with
examples of uses, including testing of pre-release software? After all,
that's a very common way to make use of the PPAs.

Title:
Revise PPA description?
Status in ubuntu-docs package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
In addremove.html and addremove-sources.html (16.10 help) the "Add a
Personal Package Archive (PPA)" section is described as follows "Add
PPAs to help test pre-release or specialty software". This description
is inaccurate since a PPA is just a way of distributing software, it
doesn't have to be used for distributing software in order for it to
be tested and the software distributed doesn't have to be "pre-release
or specialty".
I suggest we simply change the description to something like this "Add
PPAs to extend the software sources Ubuntu uses for installation and
upgrades".
