Title:
[1 mod] [Ubuntu Mono] Consecutive underscores should have visible
  separation

Status in Ubuntu Font Family:
  In Progress
Status in fonts-ubuntu package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  1. At a terminal: pango-view --font="Ubuntu Mono 12" --markup
  --text='<span fallback="false"> ABC _ __ ___ ____</span>'

  Hello,
I would like to propose that the font render underscores in such a way that consecutive underscores have breaks in between them rather than making one long line. That would make it easier to verify at a glance that, for example, a preprocessor macro in C starts with two underscores rather than three. You can estimate that from the length of the line, but it would be easier if it were visible at a glance.

This is mutually exclusive with bug 882348, requesting no space
  between underscores.
