I don't remember exactly, but I remember there was a feature which
didn't work with 1.3.24 (perhaps the cross-language polymorphism
needed for deriving C++ classes in Python).

SWIG is now at 1.3.27 (Debian unstable has this version), and 1.3.24
is over one year old, so I think Ubuntu is lagging a bit behind on
this..
