I think it would make sense to provide binaries for a non-MPI/PETSc
installation. A fair guess is that someone would like to start using the
libs and get comfy, before going MPI.

By the way, uBLAS/UMFPACK rally speed things up! A wonderful improvement
over 0.6.1.
