We could add something like a new class TimeSeries and implement XML input/output for that: <timeseries> <frame t="0.0"> <function> ... </function> </frame> </timeseries>
What about using that same approach as for VTK files? The function at each time step can be written to a file with a number appended (000, 001, etc). A "main" xml file can contain a list of the files and the time corresponding to each one.

This might be useful to have, but for efficient reading/writing of functions, one may consider a binary format that just reads and writes the dofs. /Anders _______________________________________________ DOLFIN-dev mailing list DOLFIN-dev@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.fenics.org/mailman/listinfo/dolfin-dev
