Did you google FindUMFPACK.cmake first? ;)

There are some tests for UMFPACK out there already - they  also test for
BLAS and AMD, on which UMFPACK depends.

Note sure.

Not related to the configure step, but there is an option for verbose
output when doing 'make' so you can see if flags have been added or not.
