B. Emek Abali is still having a problem:
thanks for the quick reply,

sigma(v)= 2*mu*d
so it is linear in d,

d(v)=grad(v) (symmetrized) so it is linear in v

the functional is inner(sigma(v),grad(w)) so it is still linear,

the mu is d dependent, but d2 is just a number.

Where am I wrong :) or a better question, should I project sigma(v) to
linearize it in a way, the how?
