Perhaps we should create a simple script dolfin-version that prints
the current version to make it easy to check?

If you are using apt-get:

  apt-cache showpkg dolfin-dev

or just:

  python -c"import dolfin;print dolfin.__version__"

You might want to install a newer version, which I recomend, or run the demos 
that goes with the version you have installed. 

For this you need the package:

  dolfin-doc 

Then you can do:

  mkdir dolfin-demo
  cp -r /usr/share/doc/dolfin-doc/demo/* dolfin-demo
  cd dolfin-demo/pde/cahn-hilliard/python/
  python demo.py
