Hi David

I like your ideas.  These Ideas will work well as a splash screen and/or
background for the desktop, as a logo we need something very simple
though.

I like the 3D effect!  How about some animation?  An animated version
would add quite a bit of "nice" to the installer.  We can use it on the
opening screen of the installer!  It think it would look really great.

The steel plate idea sounds nice.  But be careful not to overwhelm with
to much detail.  May be make a couple of versions, e.g.:
- the 3D version with a plain background (as per your attached version)
- a steel plate version with a simpler logo.  I'm thinking in the line
of having the logo as plain steel parts on top of the main steel plate.
Then you have the detail of the logo but all in a steel color, so you
can a lot of detail but without all the colors.

like a steel plate, the kind one walks on.
