Kenneth Loafman proposed the following answer:
You can restore the last 2 days changed files with a command like:

$ duplicity restore --time 2016-08-09T00:00:00 <backup-url> <restore-
dir>

to restore anything backed up after the 9th.  It will not read the
entire dataset.
