My way to repro:
 * Start the shell
 * Switch to the apps scope
 * Expand the first category
 * Search for abc (or something else that empties fully the results)
 * Press the [x] to clear the search text

Bug description:
  Steps:
  1. Search for applications in the home scope
  2. Dismiss the search 
  Result: sometimes the Installed Applications section is then blank (see attached screenshot)
