Title:
Top panel applet for settings, shutdown, etc. disappeared

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  saucy 3.11.0-2 new install today
The applet (looks like a sun) for settings, shutdown, etc. was on the right end of the top panel but disappeared. What's left is network, battery, speaker, time.

Will start a terminal and do a sudo halt to shutdown. Any other
  ideas?
