[Bug 1221304] Re: Global app-menu is missing from Unity panel...

I am experiencing this as well. After upgrade I the package appmenu-gtk
and appmenu-gtk3 are no longer installed and when I try to install them,
I receive this error:

Package appmenu-gtk3 has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

I am attaching my unity-panel-service.log if it helps.

Title:
Global app-menu is missing from Unity panel...

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Upgraded to 13.10 and there's a strange issue with the global menu -
the one in the panel - it isn't consistent for all applications. For
example GIMP is missing it's menu at the top of the panel and instead
has it below the panel. Screenshot included. wanted to know if it's
supposed to be that way or if there's a fix, thanks...
