Title:
  mplayer makes mouse pointer disappear and sometimes alt-tab switcher

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  steps:
  1. play a video with mplayer
  2. use escape to quite mplayer

  Result:
  the mouse cursor is not visible (though roll over effects are visible)

  Note that switching to Vt1 and back again restores the mouse cursor
  Note also that sometimes the alt-tab switching GUI disappears
