A large selection of hardware controllers for keyboards no not have full
n-key rollover and certain multiple-key combinations well just not work.
This is a hardware problem and there is unfortunately nothing that can
be done in software to accommodate it.

It is quite possible this is what's causing the described problem.  A
technical discussion of why (some) keyboards do this can be found at

Bug description:
  Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity
  7.1.2+13.10.20131014.1-0ubuntu1

  When I try to move an application to another workspace With
  Ctrl+Maj+Alt+Arrow it only works if I move the application from right
  to left or left to right but not bottom to top or top to bottom.

  Also when I try to just swith to another worspace (Ctrl+Alt+Arrow) it
  works except for one diagonal : bottomright to topleft.
