Message #06873
[Bug 1156607] Re: "Log Out" no longer warns about updates that require restart
The previous edit to "What should happen" was in error. Since Ubuntu
12.10 the system menu does not refer to updates at all; that's
exclusively the domain of the Log Out dialog.
** Description changed:
Problem occurs in: unity 6.12.0daily13.03.13.1-0ubuntu1, indicator-
session 12.10.5daily13.03.08-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu R
Does not occur in: Ubuntu 12.10
1. Install updates that require restarting the computer to complete installation.
2. From the system menu, choose "Log Out...".
What happens: The Log out dialog appears as normal.
- What should happen:
- - the system menu icon should be coloured red
- - a 'Restart...' option in red text should appear in the system menu (this option should only appear in the system menu in this specific case, normally it should be hidden)
- - If a user clicks the "Restart..." or "Shutdown..." options the new shutdown dialogue should be displayed with the following text "Hi [username], please restart to finish the update."
- - If the user also has unsaved files open, the message should be ""Hi [username], please restart to finish the update. Before restarting you may want to save the files that are currently open"
+ What should happen: The Log Out dialog has secondary text, “Some updates
+ won’t apply until the computer next restarts.", and has a "Restart
+ Instead" button. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SessionHandling#Log_Out>
