1. Install Hedgewars <apt:hedgewars> if it is not installed already.
2. Put a System Monitor applet in your gnome-panel.
3. Launch Hedgewars.
4. Set games to play full-screen, if this is not set already (Settings -> Audio/Graphic Options -> "Fullscreen").
5. Start a new game.
6. Press the keyboard key to increase or decrease brightness.

What happens:
5. The area on top of the System Monitor applet flickers nastily.
6. The area where the notification bubbles would appear flickers nastily. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30470303/out.ogv

What should happen:
5. There is no sign of the System Monitor applet, because the game is reliably painting over top of it.
6. The notification bubbles appear nicely on top of the game.
