[Bug 398177] [NEW] No notifications seen with several virtual screens and application windows taking all the space
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Hello,
With an up-to-date Ubuntu 9.04, I have never seen any notifications. I'm
using several virtual screens (20, in a 5 by 4 configuration) and I'm
used to set each application (e.g. firefox) full screen in a virtual
screen.
This is mostly annoying for the Update Manager. It sometimes appears as
"docked" in the lower desktop bar but I never see any notification
telling me that new updates are available. I need to manually open the
Update manager application (or "undock" it from the lower desktop bar).
I had no issue with the previous notification system (the bubbles).
As a somewhat related issue (same bug or another?), the Update Manager
when "docked" in the lower desktop bar, cannot be opened except in a
certain virtual screen. I.e., I need to be in the virtual screen when
the Update manager was "docked" to undock it, in other virtual screens
it won't work: clicking on the application name in the desktop bar does
nothing. This is quite annoying. Should I open a separate bug report
(against which package?) or is this the same issue?
Sincerely yours,
david mentré
