I think that's a duplicate of bug #1206550 (I don't know for other
reasons than auth ones for the indicator to turn red)

  Icon turns red, but no feedback in the menu for the reason

Bug description:
  I believe the session icon turns red due to online account issues, but
  that item in the menu isn't highlighted (I believe it was some time
  ago), so there's nothing to indicate what the red means.
