I'm not able to reproduce this issue in 14.04 -- the stock user icons in
the User Switcher section of indicator-session update correctly.

This may have been a problem specifically with the header in the user
menu; however, that was removed in 12.10.

Bug description:
  When changing themes, all indicator icons are updated with the new
  corresponding icons for the selected theme. This does not currently
  happen for the user switching indicator, that remains the same until
  restart or logging out and in.
