Title:
HUD erroneously pops up when not wanted

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In the last few weeks or so I've noticed the HUD on my 14.04 laptop
pops up way more than it ever used to, when not wanted.

I am always in an app (irssi in screen in terminator) where I press
ALT+w sometimes, many times a day. Often I get the HUD popup and
frantically stab escape or alt to get rid of it. I've always had it
pop up in the past now and then but now it's many times a day.
