[Bug 1300722] Re: hud-service is eating up 100% of one of my CPUs in a poll loop

I just experienced this bug for the 2nd time in 8 days. The system had
been on for an hour or so and I was playing chess using an app that runs
under WINE that I use regularly without the 100% CPU problem occurring.
Thunderbird and Firefox were open but I was not interacting with them.
The System Updater notified me of an available update and I went ahead
and let it update while I was playing chess. Shortly afterward, the
cooling fan came on and I checked the System Monitor and found one CPU
pegged at 100% (see screen shot 1). The process consuming 25% of the
CPU was hud-service. (One of four cores running at 100% = 25%). I
glanced at some logs bug didn't know what to look for. Rebooted Ubuntu
and CPU activity is back to normal. I'm going to scan my system log
for clues but don't know what to look for; if I find something
suspicious I'll post it here. You can ask me to look for specific
things in the log and I'll be glad to do that. 2 screenshots attached.
