I believe this will be fixed with the switch to suru theme, when we
start colourizing all icons based on the theme.

  the icon used for"calendar events" doesn't work well on light themes

Bug description:
  Using the current trusty version, the "alarm-symbolic" icon used for
  events is a symbolic/grey one, that provides little contrast on light
  theme colors
