This is practically a haiku.

Best bug report I've seen in ages.

Popey, just to be clear, you're saying this is the same event going off
thrice at the same time (or nearly the same time)? Does the same event
show up N times in the indicator as well or when you open up ubuntu-
clock-app, or is the multiplicity only in the notifications?

Also, would it be possible for you to attach (or mail me) your
~/.local/share/evolution/tasks/${some-long-random-name}/tasks.ics file
along with information about which task went off 3x?

Title:
Alarms go off 3 times on mako and flo

Status in “indicator-datetime” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Sync your calendar to Ubuntu device
  Have events in your calendar.
  Wait for an a event
  Alarm goes off.
Listen to the gently plucked harp.
Press the dismiss button on the popup
  Wait a short while.
  Alarm goes off again.
  Get annoyed at the harp
Press the dismiss button on the popup
  Wait a short while
  Alarm goes off again
  Shout at phone.

I would expect the alarm to go off once.
