Title:
  Dialog shows string format character instead of string when display

Bug description:
  The system has a pair of 1600x1200 monitors. These are being driven by
  Nvidia HW and Nvidia proprietary drivers. I have the driver configured
  as "TwinView". Running the latest Precise updates.

  I changed the "Launcher Placement" from "All displays" to "Unknown". I
  the hit Apply which brought up an error dialog. I left that dialog on
  the screen for quite some tome. A new dialog appeard: "Failed to apply
  configuration: %s Timeout was reached". The '%s' should probably be
  something else.
