Bug description:
I apologise for the lengthy summary, this is the first bug I've ever opened here.
And it is a bug IMHO, a design bug more precisely.

When using maximised application windows, and with the launcher being
set to permanently show, the button controls intentionally don't show
in line with the left application window margin, but above the
launcher. I've seen that especially novice users are confused by the
window controls being placed strangely away from the window to which
they're supposed to belong to (even more the bigger the launcher
  size).

I understand that the devs want to have some coherence with the dash
window controls being placed at the same spot (which now sport the
same looks as the application window controls), but I think this only
adds to confusion. Launcher and applications are just of a different
  kind.

My proposal is to use the freed up space above the launcher for an
auto-hide/permanent show launcher toggle switch. This could provide
for a quick and intuitive way to pin or unpin the launcher to the
desktop - most novice users wouldn't know that they can also find this
functionality in the system settings, and it would even be handy for
the more advanced when they need more screen width once in a time.

  Thank you.
