[Bug 1297462] Re: Files does not have a keyboard shortcut assigned to open a second instance, this has regressed as in Unity-2d a user could push Super Shift 1 to open a second instance of Nautilus Files. This does not only effect the Nautilus Launcher.
Shift + click works just fine here. You can also use middle click.

Bug description:
This regression means that a user openning a second instance of
supported Launchers has to go to the Launcher and use the quick menu
if it supports it or use the ALT f2 run box to spawn a second instance
of a program.
