As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS I have tested this on 15.10
and the bug is still there.  I think this is a feature request rather
than a bug.

  Dash - rename files in the dash

Bug description:
  There is no way to rename (a common action for files) files from the
  files and folders pane.

  This could be done either as a right click (context menu) function, or
  a slow double click on the file name.

  Desired solution

  - When a file that can be renamed is selected in the Dash, pressing
  "F2" should make the file name editable by opening a inline file edit
  in a similar style to the Nautilus inline file name edit box.
  Pressing ENTER or RETURN or moving the focus should fix the name
  change.  Pressing ESC should cancel the name change.

  - This should apply to all files with editable names e.g. files and
  folders in the file lens, mp3 files in the music lens, video files in
  the video lens, etc...

  - If a item which does not have a editable name is selected, pressing
  F2 should do nothing.

  - Contact Rosie or Otto for the visual assets showing exactly how the
  inline file edit box should appear.
