I finally got around to testing this. I rebuilt the wily upload on vivid
and the results are beautiful. Thanks! :)

  osd notifications blurry

Status in notify-osd package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Recently clean installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 Trusty Tahr. With hidpi scale
  set to 2, and text scale set to .75, all on screen notifications  have
  been blurry to the point of being unreadable. Any ideas on what could
  cause this?
