Title:
Category Headers (e.g., "Recent") don't indicate when they have
keyboard-focus in the Dash
Status in unity-2d package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
When Category Headers (e.g., "Applications" or "Files & Folders" or
"Recent") do not contain a "see # more results" line next to them,
they give no indication to the user when they receive keyboard-focus.
All other items in the dash gain a soft highlight when they receive
keyboard-focus. This soft-highlight helps communicate to the user
where the keyboard-focus resides.
It might be a good idea to give some sort of feedback to the user when
a Category Header is the item that has keyboard focus. As shown in the
attached screenshot, despite the Category Header "Files & Folders"
having keyboard focus, no indication of this fact is shown to the
user.
Knowing where the keyboard-focus resides in the Dash is helpful
because it allows users to know where they are "located" in the Dash.
I often lose my place in the Dash because the focus lands on a
Category Header that doesn't contain a "see # more results" line. I am
left trying to figure out where my cursor/keyboard-focus went. Tapping
the left and/or right arrow-keys does nothing. and if I don't know
where to look, sometimes even tapping the up & down arrow-keys won't
catch my attention because I am looking at a different section of the
Dash.
Perhaps when a Category Header receives keyboard-focus it could gain
the soft-highlight and/or be underlined or something?
