Title:
Warning of the window manager: Got a request to focus xxx (xxx) with a
timestamp of 0. This shouldn't happen!
Status in unity-2d package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
On many GTK applications, such as gnome-terminal, terminal, Chromium-
Browser (sometimes) and Libre Office, the mouse pointer is flickering,
sometimes even slowing down the performance of the application. The
mentioned Terminals, for instance, are practically unusable. xterm on
the other hand does not exhibit the mouse flickering behaviour and
performing fine.
When I move the mouse pointer onto the window decoration or an
application that is not concerned with the problem, the flickering
disappears, as well as the mouse pointer, and the performance is back
to normal.
While flickering, the file ~/.xsession-errors gets filled up with
messages like "Warning from the window manager: Got a request to focus
xxx (yyy) with a timestamp of 0. This shouldn't happen!" whereas xxx
is some hexadecimal number and yyy usually coresponds to the window
title or program name that the mouse cursor is currently flickering
on.
.xsession-errors usually gets up to 700mb or even 1.6gb big.
I have a Lenovo SL510 and having graphics problems since Precise,
maybe it's a graphics driver issue and not related to unity-2d? I was
able to use unity before, now since the upgrade I can only use
unity2d, on xfce I did not encounter the bug.
lspci gives me:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
Thanks for any help!
