  Long names truncated in dash where they aren't in Unity 3D

Status in unity-2d package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I have a 1366 x 768 screen, with default text size and am using unity-
  2d 5.8.0-0ubuntu1 and unity 5.8.0-0ubuntu2.

  In Unity 2D, the labels under icons in the dash are shortened if they
  are over a certain length. These same labels are not shortened in
  Unity 3D. One example of this is "Empathy Internet Messaging".

  File names are truncated differently (2D: towards the end, 3D: towards
  the middle).

  Here are screenshots: the top is Unity 2D and the bottom is Unity 3D.

  They are expected to be the same, if it is possible.
