[Bug 426724] Re: login-screen has no user-pictures

Thanks for the report.

Obviously, this is because your home directory is not mounted at the
time in which gdm tries to read your .face file.

To solve this, we're going to need to read/write .face to a non-
encrypted location. The best place for this is going to be
/home/.ecryptfs/$USER.

gdm will need to be modified to check this location for .face.

And gnome-control-center will need to be modified to write .face to that
location too, if it exists.

Binary package hint: ecryptfs-utils

DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu karmic (development branch)"

Kernel (update)  2.6.31-10-generic, i386 - same using amd64.
Gnome desktop (gdm)

By using an encrypted home directory (ecryptfs-utils), the users pictures ('~/.face' respectively '/usr/share/pixmaps/faces/**') are not shown at login-screen, as it is default without encryption.

This seems to be a general bug of 'ecryptfs-utils'.
