[Bug 1888177] [NEW] tried to bucket fill a selection and it crashed hard

Public bug reported:

I made a new transparent layer, then made a circle with the oval
selection tool. Then I hit X to put white as my foreground color. Then
used bucket fill tool to fill the circle in white, but instead, it
crashed the gimp.

KUbuntu 18.04.4 LTS
