I appear to be seeing these same symptoms in an up to date Debian
Buster, can you confirm which calibre version No this fix was made in.

$ uname -srv
Linux 4.19.0-14-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.171-2 (2021-01-30)

$ calibre --version
calibre (calibre 3.39.1)
