Colin Watson pointed me to Casper code which creates the desktop folder
and Ubiquity launcher in it on LiveCD boot and I've patched it out.

  Desktop folder still in home directory during live session

  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  We removed the desktop from Nautilus/XDG's standpoint, now we just
  need to *actually* remove the folder :-)

  It seems that it gets created by a .desktop file Ubiquity places
  there.
