I realize this is over a year old, but changing the "Show like
breadcrumbs (need specific gtkrc theme file)" option under Pathbar in
Tweaks in the Preferences to selected does fix this.

Bug description:
  When navigating deep into a folder structure, there is a misplaced
  right arrow icon, which overlaps the order you are currently in, in
  the navigation bar. See screenshot for clarification: The current
  folder is called "fourth folder" where the first to letters are
  overlapped by this icon.
